Youth Olympic Games Dakar 2026: travelling with Dakar VTC

From 30 October to 13 November 2026, traffic will be regulated in Dakar, Diamniadio and Saly: reserved lanes and exits, diversions, roads closed during events. Normal conditions are expected to return on 14 November. Journeys will take longer, so we adjust our timings to secure every trip.

The official traffic plans

Our arrangements

  • Departures to AIBD airport: pick-up at least 3H30 before your flight time.
  • Arrivals at AIBD: your driver waits for you at landing, at the terminal exit, right-hand door, behind the barriers, holding a sign with your name.
  • Saturday 31/10 (opening ceremony in Diamniadio): very heavy traffic on the motorway. Late-afternoon pick-ups may be brought forward further.
  • Corniche Ouest closed on 7, 8 and 10/11 from 06H00 to 16H00: our drivers use alternative routes.
  • Saly (5, 6, 8 and 10/11): Ngaparou / Saly road closed during events, restricted access. We will ask you how to reach your residence.

What we ask of you

  • Book at least 48 hours in advance: demand will be very high during the Games.
  • Send us your flight number and your exact address, or a location pin.
  • Be ready at the confirmed pick-up time.
  • If an access road is closed, we will suggest an accessible meeting point.

Special conditions for the Games

Applicable to any trip carried out from 30/10 to 14/11/2026. They complete the terms of sale (article 13) and do not replace them.

Depending on traffic conditions and decisions by the authorities, Dakar VTC may bring forward the pick-up time, including after confirmation. Any adjustment will be communicated to you before the trip. If the client requests a later time than recommended, declines an adjustment or is not ready at the confirmed time, Dakar VTC cannot be held responsible for delays caused by traffic measures.

Flight tracking is included: your driver arrives according to the actual landing time of your flight. In case of a significant flight delay or unforeseen event, Dakar VTC may assign your trip to another driver or a selected partner, with a vehicle of equivalent category.

For delays beyond our control (flight delays, traffic, decisions by the authorities), Dakar VTC's liability is limited to the price of the trip. No compensation can be claimed for a missed flight or appointment. We recommend travel insurance.

Questions during the Games

Do the Youth Olympic Games change how I travel in Dakar?

Yes, from 30 October to 13 November 2026. Traffic is regulated in Dakar, Diamniadio and Saly: reserved lanes and exits, diversions, roads closed during events. Journeys take longer and Dakar VTC moves pick-up times accordingly. Normal conditions are expected to return on 14 November 2026.

How long before my flight will I be picked up during the Games?

For a departure to Blaise Diagne airport between 30 October and 13 November 2026, pick-up is at least 3H30 before the flight time. Depending on traffic, Dakar VTC may bring that forward, including after confirmation, and will tell you before the trip.

Should I book earlier during the Youth Olympic Games?

Yes. Book at least 48 hours ahead between 30 October and 13 November 2026, against 24 hours the rest of the year: demand is very high during the Games. Send your flight number and your exact address or location pin.

Which roads are closed during the Games?

The Corniche Ouest is closed on 7, 8 and 10 November 2026 from 06H00 to 16H00. In Saly, the Ngaparou to Saly road is closed during events on 5, 6, 8 and 10 November 2026, with restricted access. On Saturday 31 October, the day of the opening ceremony in Diamniadio, the motorway is very heavily used. These measures may change according to the authorities.
