The dates we know, sport by sport

Not every discipline has a published date in the sources consulted. These do.

• Swimming: 1 to 6 November, Tour de l'Œuf. It opens the programme.
• Coastal rowing and beach volleyball: 31 October to 3 November, Saly West Beach.
• Street skateboarding: 4 and 5 November, the Tour de l'Œuf skatepark.
• Triathlon: 5 and 6 November, Saly.
• Beach wrestling: 7 and 8 November, Saly.
• Athletics: 8 to 10 November, Iba Mar Diop.
• Road cycling: 8 and 10 November, Corniche Ouest.
• Windsurfing: 8 to 12 November, Saly.
• Beach handball: 9 to 13 November, Saly.
• Breaking: 12 and 13 November, Tour de l'Œuf. It closes the programme.

The figures, and the ones that do not agree

• Twenty-five competition sports award medals. Ten so-called engagement sports are shown as demonstrations and award none, which makes thirty-five disciplines in all.
• Around 2,700 athletes are expected, according to the IOC.
• The number of events differs by source: 153 in the official documents, 151 in the Au Senegal practical guide of 19 October 2026. We treat neither as settled.
• One source gives 33 disciplines where the others give 35. Check the official schedule for the sport you care about before planning a journey.

Tickets

• Tickets are sold on the official site, tickets.dakar2026.org.
• The general price announced is 1,000 FCFA, with exceptions for the opening ceremony and some events. Reduced-mobility seats have their own prices.
• A confirmed booking is announced as non-cancellable and non-refundable.
• Road cycling and triathlon are announced as free, as is the Corniche Ouest festival, but some free entries still require a free online ticket.
• The Games fairs, run by the City of Dakar, are on from 31 October to 15 November 2026.

Getting there without losing your day

The mobility plan presented on 6 October 2026 holds 166 measures. It relies on the TER train, the BRT, Dakar Dem Dikk, AFTU buses, dedicated shuttles and accredited taxis.

For Diamniadio the TER is the recommended option, with shuttles between the station and the venues. Saly is reached by road, so the journey time depends on the traffic that day.

• Corniche Ouest: closed to general traffic on 7, 8 and 10 November, from 06:00 to 16:00, with diversions.
• Restrictions apply around the Medina, Point E and Diamniadio.
• In Saly, the Ngaparou to Saly road is closed during events on 5, 6, 8 and 10 November, with restricted access.
• For a flight out of AIBD during the Games, allow a pick-up at least 3H30 before the flight time.
• Book private transport at least 48 hours ahead over this period, against 24 hours the rest of the year.
